In recognition of the need for better coordination that can lead to improved economic, social and community outcomes, Regional Development Australia (RDA) Kimberley has been funded by the Federal Government fo deliver on five key areas including:

  1. Community engagement and consultation
  2. Informed regional planning
  3. Enhanced whole-of-government approach
  4. Promotion of government programs
  5. Community and economic development.

On the basis of consultation with key regional stakeholders, existing plans, internal resources and networks, the strategic priorities that RDA Kimberley has determined that it will focus its attention and resources on have been identified to date incorporate:

  • Youth
  • Economic development,
  • Health,
  • Skills development (Education and Training),
  • Housing,
  • Environment,
  • Indigenous (Closing the Gap) and 
  • Infrastructure/Energy/Mining (Industry).

RDA Kimberley has determined its vision is to create an environment of opportunity. In its quest to achieve this vision, RDA Kimberley recognises it must be flexible, seek out opportunities and to position itself as focussed on building a pathway to employment and economic growth for the region. Through the strengths of the knowledge and contacts held by the RDA Kimberley Committee, stakeholders and networks will be used to inform, discuss and advance key priorities and issues for the benefit of the entire Kimberley Region.
